Dr. Philip Scolaro
Dr. Scolaro is a board-certified Otolaryngologist servicing the South Plains area. He has been practicing in Lubbock since 1990 and has a well-earned reputation as a skilled and experienced surgeon serving multiple generations of families. As the founding member of Ear Nose & Throat Associates of Lubbock, he currently serves as the Medical Director for Covenant High Plains Surgery Center campuses, is a member of Covenant Health Partners and the Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Philip Scolaro
Dr. Scolaro is a board certified otolaryngologist who has been practicing in Lubbock since 1990. He offers comprehensive care across all age groups, from pediatric ear tubes and tonsillectomies to addressing compound ear, nose, and throat conditions for adults and geriatrics.
Dr. Scolaro is especially skilled in thyroid and parathyroid surgeries and is the leading surgeon in the West Texas region for these procedures. He is also very skilled at complex sinus surgery and has a special interest in office-based procedures such as Balloon Sinuplasty, Vivaer, Rhinaer and Eustachian tube dilation.
Dr. Scolaro has previously served as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Covenant Medical Center and as an adjuct professor at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. He currently serves as the Medical Director for Covenant High Plains Surgery Center campuses.
Prior to practicing in Lubbock, Dr. Scolaro received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin before completing his medical degree and residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Scolaro is licensed to practice in the state of Texas and is a board-certified member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, a member of the Texas Medical Board and Covenant Health Partners.
Outside of the office, Dr. Scolaro enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Margaret, and 6 children.

Dr. David Cuthbertson
Dr. Cuthbertson is a board certified otolaryngologist who has been practicing at ENT Associates of Lubbock since 2016. He offers comprehensive care across all age groups, from pediatric ear tubes and tonsillectomies to addressing compound ear, nose, and throat conditions for adults and geriatrics.
His proficiency shines in various facets of nasal surgery, including the latest in-office procedures such as balloon sinuplasty, Rhinaer, Vivaer, and Clarifix, as well as nasal surgeries like septoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery. Additionally, Dr. Cuthbertson excels in complex head and neck procedures such as thyroid and parathyroidectomies, ensuring that patients feel comfortable and reassured with his relaxed, caring, and compassionate approach to healthcare. He was the first surgeon in West Texas to perform Inspire surgery for sleep apnea, and continues to be the leading surgeon for this procedure in the region.
His academic journey is equally impressive. Dr. Cuthbertson earned dual undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Spanish, the latter of which he is fluent in, from the University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently, he pursued his medical education at Baylor College of Medicine and completed his residency there.
Following his training, he obtained board certification in otolaryngology through the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.
Since 2022, Dr. Cuthbertson has assumed the role of Chair of the Medical Executive Committee at Covenant High Plains Surgery Center, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to excellence in the medical field.
Among his professional affiliations, he is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Texas Medical Association and Covenant Health Partners.
Outside of the office, Dr. Cuthbertson enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and two daughters. He also enjoys participating in college ministry activities, both locally and globally, playing and coaching soccer, and traveling.

Cathy Thackrey, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Thackrey is the lead Audiologist at Ear Nose & Throat Associates of Lubbock. She heads our Audiology and Hearing Aid Team and supervises audiology student interns through the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center system. She is licensed in the State of Texas and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Cathy works directly with our physicians to provide the very best hearing care for her patients- this is a bonus you will not find with other hearing aid retailers who do not have access to physicians for their clients! Dr. Thackrey is passionate about selecting the most appropriate device for your individual hearing needs and will work tirelessly to ensure that the fit and programming of your hearing aid is right on target! Her expertise and accessibility have made her one of the most popular audiologists in town.
In her free time Cathy is an avid cook, haphazard gardener, occasional traveler and doting dog mom.

Dr. David Cuthbertson
Dr. Cuthbertson joined the team at Ear Nose and Throat Associates in 2016 from Houston, where he was chief resident of the prestigious Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is board certified in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery and has quickly built a reputation, not only as an extremely skilled surgeon, but as an approachable and compassionate clinician adept in the newest standards and technologies.
Cathy Thackrey,
Au.D., CCC-A – Audiologist
Dr. Thackrey has been providing Audiology services to West Texas residents since 2006. She is licensed in the State of Texas and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She specializes in hearing evaluations of all ages, but is especially skilled in the selection, fitting, programming and servicing of hearing aids. Dr. Thackrey offers free hearing aid consultations in a no pressure setting. Give her a call today!
